Measure D: Ballot Questions Answered

We all know that Election Day is just around the corner. You know the presidential candidates and you are probably familiar with the local and state races as well, however, there is something on the ballot that might not be so well- known.
It's called Measure D (See below). It's a tax levy that could increase the Dubuque County Extension Office's budget by a significant amount.
Extension Office Director, Larry Tranel, says that the confusion of words on the ballot serve as a hurdle when trying to pass the measure.
“People think they should vote no in order to support us and other people are thinking they should put yes to try to vote against us,” said Tranel.
So, if you support the levy, vote yes and if you are against it vote no.
Tranel reminds people of a fact about the Dubuque County Agricultural Extension which few recognize.
“We’ve got the largest 4H program in the state of Iowa and it’s kind of ironic that we are one out of six programs that has not been able to pass this,” adds Tranel.
This is the 4th time Dubuque County has voted on the measure.
